What to pack and more

What to Pack ... and More ... (2019)
Some housekeeping items:
1. Dietary Needs:
Several of you may have specific dietary requests on your registration form... these will be passed on to the camp manager who will in turn be passing this information on to the Food Services Manager. They will do the best they can; but we have to remember that this is a "camp situation" so if you have any concerns at all regarding the menu not being able to work for you, please do not hesitate to pack along some of your own food. I have been to a couple retreats at Camp Caroline and overall have been quite happy with their regular menu.
2. Room Accommodations:
Since this is a camp we will be sleeping in rooms with bunks. Please bring along your own bedding - e.g. sleeping bag, pillow, blanket, sheet - whatever you prefer to sleep with. Ear plugs may be a useful item to have as well ... just in case!
You will be responsible for cleaning up after yourself - we are to leave the rooms clean - we will pass on further information about this on the weekend.
3. Perfumes:
There are attendees who are sensitive to perfumes, so please be mindful of this and try to keep it to a minimum.
4. More Things To Pack:
-Indoor shoes or slippers are required.
-Walking shoes in case you want to venture around the property during our free time on Saturday.
-Running shoes/gym clothes... there is a gym there that we can use during our free time to play volley ball, badminton etc.
-Bathing suit & towel...we can enjoy the hot tub and swimming pool on Friday night or Saturday.
-Your own toiletries (shampoo, soap etc) and towel/wash cloth.
-The dinner on Friday night will be semi-formal so you may wish to pack along a pair of dress pants or skirt.
5. Games:
We will have some free time on Friday night and Sat. for fellowship. If you enjoy playing games, please bring along a favorite.
6. Extra Snacks:
NUT FREE ENVIRONMENT!
Please bring along a nut free snack to share for the snack table that will be set up Friday night and Saturday. Items like baking, chips, chocolate, crackers and cheese, veggies, fruit etc.
(there is a small fridge to store items in).
- The camp provides 3 healthy and filling meals while we are there and really yummy cinnamon buns on Friday night.
7. Camera:
You may want to take pictures of the beautiful scenery when you are out walking ... and maybe a shot or two or three…of the many old and new faces that you will meet.
8. Cheque Book/Cash:
-Donations...
In past years we have picked a charity to donate to that is close to the hearts of women. This year it has been decided to accept donations towards this Women's Retreat. In an effort to keep the costs of registration down, there have been other costs that we are having difficulty covering. Since at this point the retreat is not a church sponsored event the monies only come from those that attend the retreats.
By the end of this retreat there will be no monies left to pay the $500 deposit that the camp requires ahead of time for 2021.
We wish to keep this retreat going, so if you feel you would like to make a donation, it would be much appreciated. If writing a cheque, it can be written out to Sylvia VandenHaak.
Thank you for your consideration.
-Vendor Tables...
We also invite you to set up a table (at no charge to you) with a product line that you sell (if you are interested in having a table please email adrian_vandenhaak@hotmail.com.) Once we know which vendors will be there we will post it here on the blog and on the Facebook page.
10. Note Taking:
We will have a folder with the schedule as well as an outline of the presentations where you will be able to take notes - but if you are a serious note taker you may want to take along your own notebook/pen/tablet/computer. It will be handy to have a Bible on hand as well for reference during the presentations.
11. Alcohol and Smoking:
There is to be NO alcohol at all.
There is to be no smoking anywhere in and around the facilities. If you do smoke please go a fair distance away from the building. Thank you for your consideration.
We hope to wrap up by 4:30 PM on Saturday.
